Cardamom Tea recipe ( Chotti Elichi )


Cardamom also known as the "The Queen of Spices", cardamom has been used for thousands of years for not only flavouring and enhancing cooking but also for traditional and ceremonial reasons, but more importantly, its wide range of health and well-being benefits it brings....
+It can aid digestion and boost blood circulation.
+Cardamom oil has anti-inflammatory properties, and is also used in massage to relieve soreness.
+Cardamom tea is used in Asia to treat sore throats and lower blood pressure. These are just some of the benefits, and ongoing research is discovering new medicinal and restorative uses for this spice all the time!
+Cardamom contains the following constituents: a-terpineol, myrcene, limonene, menthone, b-phellandrene, 1,8-cineol, sabinene, and heptane. 
+Cardamom Tea may help treat indigestion, prevent stomach pain, and relieve flatulence. 
+Cardamom Tea may help relieve nausea and vomiting.
+Cardamom Tea may be effective in fighting pulmonary disease with copious phlegm, and may be useful as an expectorant.
+Cardamom Tea may help detoxify against excessive caffeine.
+Cardamom Tea may be helpful in fighting irritation during the menstrual period.
+Through preliminary research, it has been found that cardamom tea may help in preventing colon cancer. However, more research is needed to fully prove this benefit.


Cardamom Tea
Ingredients: (makes 2 cups)
2 cups water
8-10 green cardamom pods
2 green tea bags (optional)
1 tbsp grated orange rind (or fresh orange juice)
Honey or agave nectar (optional) 
Directions:
Add the water to a saucepan and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Crack open the green pods and add to the saucepan and simmer for 2-3 minutes. The cardamom seeds will dissolve in their pods.
Turn off the heat, and if using, add the teabags and the orange rind (or juice) and let steep for 5-10 minutes.
Remove the teabags and pods, and if you like a bit of sweetness, add the honey or agave and serve
