Knife Steel
Carbon Steel
Sushi knives and cleavers are among the types of knives made with carbon steel. It's a soft metal, containing iron and carbon, that sharpens easily, though that sharp edge also dulls quickly as well. Carbon steel pits in the presence of acidity and rusts quickly when it gets wet, so it's important to keep it dry and acid-free.
High-Carbon Stainless Steel
The higher carbon content means high-carbon stainless steel knives, like steak knives, do not rust easily. Once sharpened, they hold the sharpness well. High-carbon stainless steel has the shiniest look of the three types of steel.
Stainless Steel
Most basic knives are made of stainless steel, which contains carbon and chromium. Chromium allows these knives to be corrosion resistant, so they do not rust. A very hard metal, it can take a lot of effort to get a sharp edge, but once you do, it will last longer than either carbon or high-carbon stainless steel.

Tips for rooting Money plant in water
Money plant ( pothos ) is one of few plants which can be directly rooted in water and may be this is the reason of its popularity among naive gardeners.
Step by step guide for cutting and rooting money plant vine in the water.
1.Select a healthy looking money plant vine. The vine which you select for taking cuttings should not be having any visible damage, infection on it.
2.Make a clear, sharp cut at 45 degree angle on just above a node.
( node is the distinct visible joint on the vine from where leaves emerge)
3.The cutting should have minimum 2-3 lodes on it. However in case of money plant you can have as many leaves as you want.
4. Put the cutting in a soft drink bottle ( cut from top ) or jar filled with water. Water should be clean and clear. Avoid using dirty water as it can have harmful bacteria in it.
5.Keep the small outgrowth at nodes below the water level, these outgrowths (sometimes called nodes only) grow into roots. In 1-2 weeks roots will start developing.
6.Put the above jar or bottle on shaded place where money plant gets indirect sun light.
7. Keep changing water as soon as you find it turbid or better change it every week.
8. If you want then add few drops of liquid fertilizer to it.

Medicinal Values in Camel Milk Finally Proven
The Somali people who since the beginning of time herded camels have always trusted the amazing medicinal importance of the camel milk and meat. Their strong believe of the important and unique medicinal and nutritional values of the camel milk have been finally vindicated by the science experts.
Somali nomads have used the camel milk to cure multiple illnesses and complications but, it is only now that the rest of the world and, particularly scientists and medical professionals have come to realize that what the Somali nomads have known for thousands of years and generations is scientific after all . It is therefore about time, that the rest of the world should not only recognises and respects the specialist knowledge and expertise of the Somali nomads on camels but also to work and learn from them.
Here are some of the medicinal benefits of the Camel Milk
• Camel milk is closer to human milk than any other milk.
• It is often easily digested by lactose-intolerant individuals.
• It is rich in healthy vitamins and minerals, especially B vitamins, vitamin C and iron.
• The lactoferrin in camel milk has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-tumor properties.
• It contains disease-fighting immunoglobulins which are small in size, allowing penetration of antigens and boosting the effectiveness of the immune system.
• It is a rich source of insulin. Containing approximately 52 units of insulin in each liter of camel milk, making it a great treatment option for Type 1 or Type 2 diabetics as well as Gestational Diabetes.
The Camel milk has traditionally been used to treat diabetes. Camel milk contains high levels of insulin or an insulin-like protein which pass through the stomach without being destroyed.
The stomach's acidity would normally destroy insulin - this is why developing 'oral insulin' is such a challenge. A month-long study in people with Type 1 diabetes suggested that drinking almost a pint of camel milk daily improved blood glucose levels, greatly reducing the need for insulin.
If diabetes is not adequately controlled the patient has a significantly higher risk of developing complications, such as hypoglycemia, ketoacidosis, and nonketotic hypersosmolar coma. Longer term complications could be cardiovascular disease, retinal damage, chronic kidney failure, nerve damage, poor healing of wounds, gangrene on the feet which may lead to amputation, and erectile dysfunction.
• It lacks beta casein and other common allergens found in cow milk and contains immune system components that might benefit children allergic to milk and other foods.
• It improves the quality of life for people with autoimmune disorders. Helping the immune system respond properly and no longer attacking a person's own body tissues.
• Camel milk is a good source of protein and referred to as whole food. It has enough nutrients to sustain life and is often given to babies suffering from malnutrition.
• Compared to cow, buffalo and ewe milk fat, camel milk fat has fewer short-chained fatty acids and high concentrations of volatile acids especially linoleic & polyunsaturated acids, increasing brain health and overall wellness.
Camel milk is a rich source of proteins with potential antimicrobial and protective activities; these proteins are not found in cow milk or found only in minor amount, moreover camel milk is used in some parts of the world as a cure for certain diseases. Camel milk is a whole food meaning it has enough nutrients to sustain a person through the day.
In many countries, camel milk is given to babies suffering from malnutrition. Compared to cow, buffalo and ewe milk fat, camel milk fat contains less short-chained fatty acids, but the same long-chained fatty acids can be found. Some researchers claim that the value of camel milk is to be found in the high concentrations of volatile acids and, especially, linoleic acid and the polyunsaturated acids, which are essential for human nutrition.

Other benefits:
•Camel milk is supposed a precautionary in ulcers. •Regular intake of camel milk helps to control blood sugar levels. •Camel milk helps in reducing coronary heart disease.
•Camel milk also benefits in infection, tuberculosis, gastroenteritis, etcetera and cancer. Immunoglobulin is the substance in the camel milk that contributes to immunity against infection. •Camel milk is also supposed to be a new Viagra.
•Camel´s milk cures severe food allergies and rehabilitates the immune system in children.
•Camel´s milk has a number of antibodies that are compatible with human ones and very small molecules that can easily enter the bloodstream by the intestines. Camel milk, used medicinally for centuries by nomadic people, is the closest to human mother's milk and contains 10 times more iron and three times more vitamin C than cow's milk
According to The Huffington Post. Camels possess unique, powerful immune-system components, which are contained in their milk. Camel milk might potentially benefit disorders including diabetes and autism.
Diabetes
Low-fat camel milk not only contains healthy vitamins and minerals, but also is a rich source of insulin. This milk reportedly has about a quart of insulin in each liter, making it a potential treatment option for diabetics.
The Huffington Post cites a 2005 study by India's Bikaner Diabetes Care Research Center that observed the effects of camel milk on type 1 diabetes. Researchers determined that consuming camel milk significantly reduced insulin doses required to maintain long-term glycemic, or blood sugar, control.
According to lead researcher Dr. R.P. Agrawal, 500 ml of raw, fresh camel milk daily improves the lives of diabetics due to an insulin-like protein that is absorbed rapidly and does not coagulate.
However, Agrawal also states that insulin remains the most efficient treatment for diabetes, unless it is not an option. While research appears promising, additional scientific studies are needed to prove the effectiveness of camel milk for the treatment of diabetes.
Autism
Some camel milk proponents believe that camel milk might benefit people with autism. A study published in the 2005 edition of the "International Journal of Human Development" observed the effects of camel milk consumption, instead of cow milk, on autistic people. Researchers discovered that after a 4-year-old female participant drank camel milk for 40 days, her autism symptoms disappeared.
A 15-year-old boy also recovered after 30 days of drinking the milk. In addition, several autistic 21-year-olds consumed camel milk for two weeks and were observed to be quieter and less self-destructive. Though the milk is believed beneficial, insufficient scientific evidence exists to prove the effectiveness of it in the treatment of autism.
Allergies
Camel milk lacks two powerful allergens found in cow milk and contains immune system components that might benefit children allergic to milk and other foods.
A study published in the December 2005 edition of the "Israel Medical Association Journal" investigated the effects of camel milk on eight children with severe milk and other food allergies.
After failing to respond to conventional treatments, study participants consumed camel milk under the direction of researchers.
Daily progress reports indicated that all eight children fully recovered from their allergies with no side effects. In fact, researchers stated that results were spectacular when compared with traditional treatments. Disease-fighting immunoglobulins in camel milk were believed to play a key role in reducing allergic symptoms; however, additional scientific research is needed to sufficiently prove the effectiveness of camel milk in treating allergies.
Immune System
The potent immune-system components in camel milk might help fight diseases. Purportedly, the small size of the immunoglobulins, or antibodies, found in camel milk enables easy targeting and penetration of foreign disease-causing substances, called antigens, for destruction by the immune system.
People with autoimmune system disorders, such as Crohn's disease and multiple sclerosis, have immune systems that attack their own body tissues. Although traditional treatments for autoimmune disorders suppress the immune system, camel milk benefits these disorders by boosting it
According to Israeli physiology professor emeritus Dr. Reuven Yagil. Despite conventional wisdom, Yagil asserts that his observations over a five-year period indicate that camel milk can control or even heal autoimmune disorders, but insufficient scientific evidence exists to prove the effectiveness of camel milk in the treatment of autoimmune diseases.

The numerous nutrients in camel milk help promote our body natural defenses
Anti-aging:
Alpha-hydroxyl acid that is present in camel milk help smooths fine lines
Cancer:
Camel milk has anti-tumor properties
Diabetic:
The presence of high-level of insulin-like protein in camel milk (about 52 micro unit/ml) help reduce the effect of diabetes
Liver disease:
Camel milk has antiviral properties that help reduce liver inflammation. The milk also have many nutrients that are required for healthy liver function
Autism:
It is rich in immunoglobulin that will strengthen the body's autoimmune system. This will help treat and heal autism
Thalassemia:
The curative properties of camel milk will protect our body from oxidative injury

The lactoferrin in camel milk will remove the free iron from joints of arthritic patients
Tuberculosis:
The antibacterial and antiviral is known to destroy the mycobacterium tuberculosis
AIDS:
AIDS patients in Africa were fed with camel milk to help them recover
Many people can benefit from camel's milk healing properties. However, as with any alternative and traditional remedies,
Research Works on Healing Properties of Camel Milk
United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) recognized camel milk as an important commodity to raise the economic standard for people that lived in the arid and semi-arid desert area. It will be marketed and sold, based on its nutritional and health benefits, to bring in additional income to these people. Several research works were conducted to confirm and document these benefits and some of these works are as follow:
oCamel milk safe for children: Gulf News reported that studies done by Pediatric Allergy-Immunology Clinics of the Hamad Medical Corporation showed that children with allergy to cow's milk can safely take camel's milk
oCamel milk's effect on cancer growth cell: Studies done by King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, and University of Alberta, Canada showed successful applications of camel milk for cancer and treatment of other medical conditions
oEffect of camel milk on treatment of autism: Prof. Reuven Yagil of Ben-Gurion University, Israel concluded the benefits of camel milk on autistic child
oHepatitis C Virus (HCV): Studies on the effect of camel milk on Hepatitis C Virus, showed positive results in impeding growth of HCV. This study was funded by Egyptian-Spanish joint fund and published in Virology Journal (September 2012 issue)\
oDr. Millie Hinkle of 'Camel Milk USA': The Bedouins believed that only fresh camel milk is effective in healing ailments. However, studies by Dr. Millie Hinkle, showed positive results for similar ailments using pasteurized camel milk
Camel Milk vs. Cow Milk
Why can't people continue to drink cow's milk? It is easily available and cheaper. Are there any major differences in its quality?
To start with, camel's milk is known to be the closest to human mother's milk and it is easier even for baby to consume. Research studies from around the world also confirmed camel's milk as highly nutritious and has many unique and amazing properties as compared to cow's milk.
The composition of whey proteins and caseins in camel's milk differs from cow’s milk, which could be the reasons for its healing properties.
Other differences are:
oLactose: Lower in camel milk, hence easier for someone who cannot drink cow's milk
oPotassium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and sodium: Higher in camel milk
oCholesterol: Lower in camel milk
oVitamin C: Three times higher in camel milk
oIron: Ten times higher in camel milk
oUnsaturated fatty acids and B vitamins: Higher in camel milk
oVitamin A and B2: Higher in cow milk
oProtein: Higher in camel milk
oAntibacterial and antiviral properties: Ten times higher in camel's milk
oEasily Absorb: Camel's milk doesn't coagulate easily even in an acid environment such as in our stomach. Hence, it is easily absorbed by our digestive system
oDissolves Better: Camel milk in powder form will dissolves better
oYield: Camel produces lower yield at 13 pints (6.2 liter) as compared to cow at 50 pints (23.7 liter)
With these several benefits, drinking camel milk does have its advantages. However, its scarcity makes it more expensive.
How Does Camel Milk Taste Like?
In 2007, I had my first taste of camel's milk, freshly milked from a camel's farm in Dubai. It was fresh and warm and it smelled strong. It was also mildly salty. My stomach was not used to this milk and I had diarrhea for the next two days. Maybe I should have drunk it slowly to allow my stomach to digest.
However, my Arab friend reassured me that this is a normal reaction for first timer, as it 'cleanses the system'.
Camel's milk taste varies according to the camel's diet and the amount of water it had drunk.
Some say it is mildly sweet like in low fat cow's milk. Others say it tastes like salty vanilla flavored milk.
Unlike cow's milk, camel's milk is opaque white in color.
I have not tried the fermented camel milk and I don't think my stomach is strong enough for that. However, this form of camel milk is commonly consumed by the traveling Bedouins.
Camel Milk the Healthiest Animal Milk
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ranked camel's milk as the healthiest animal milk

Health Benefits Of Camel Meat.
Camel Carne-licious: Health benefits
Filipinos love to eat and eat almost anything edible or sort of edible (exotic). It is their custom to cook and take pride in what they had to serve their guests or family members. Truth is most of their hard earned income goes directly inside their fridge.
Typical Filipino delicacies like adobo, sisig, hotdogs, tocino, imbutido, caldereta contain interchangeably stereotyped ingredients of either beef, chicken, turkey or goat. But now introducing camel, the symbol of strength, endurance and the trademark animal of the desert. It could withstand the heat and as a means of transportation can carry as much as three persons per trip. But what else does a camel capable of producing?
Studies and medical research have proved that camel meat is superior to other kinds of meat. The camel is distinguished from other animals by the fact that the percentage of its intramuscular fat declines as the animal gets older. This quality, only found in camels, makes their meat less fatty, so its consumption is healthy and recommended for weight loss. And this quality also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis since it lowers the percentage of cholesterol in the blood.
This was concurred by Dr. Syd Angel Ellica, M.D., General Practitioner of KIMS Medical Center, Dubai who furthermore stated that camel meat is a good source of protein which is utilized by the body for building new cells, prevention of infection and strengthening the immune system.
Dr. Ellica also said that camel meat may also be recommended as a diet to patients who have protein deficiency, muscle wasting or any form of protein malnutrition but such must be done after thorough assessment of their medical condition. These form of diet must be given together with albumin (in the form of egg whites) which is the ideal diet for protein losses; after considering factors such as the availability of the meat, the financial status of the patient (camel meat costs more than the other contemporary meats ) and more importantly the taste preference of the patient who is not accustomed of eating that type of meat.
As for the nutrients that a person may benefit from eating camel meat, Dr. Ellica assures that this meat considering the high chemical composition of protein contains the three main electrolytes needed by the body which are potassium, sodium and calcium. It also has minerals like zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, copper; and vitamins B1, B2, B6, C and Vitamin E.
In an issue by the Oman Daily Observer, dated September 16, 2009 it was noted that camel meat can also relieve exhaustion and fatigue because it contains energy needed by body cells. Such energy comprises sugar not fat, since, a camel’s fat is concentrated in its hump whereas other animals store it in their muscles. In addition, camel meat contains glycogen, a carbohydrate which is easily absorbed and metabolized in the body, and is converted to glucose which activates nerve as well as other cells. Such quality makes it good for the elderly as it will provide the needed energy and protein to compensate for tissue damage and reproduce hormones and enzymes for cell function.
This meat is also known for its high percentage of iron, one of the basic ingredients of blood hemoglobin which helps to reduce the risk of anemia as proved by published research from SQU’s Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. Those people who suffer from anemia are advised to take camel meat.
Ancestors originating from all points of the GCC used camel meat for curing seasonal fever, sciatica and shoulder pain, as well as for removing freckles by placing hot meat slices on the freckled area. Camel meat soup was used to cure corneal opacity and to strengthen eyesight, while its fat was used to ease hemorrhoid pain.
Furthermore, its hump fat was used to remove tape worm and its dried lung prescribed as a cure for asthma, especially if taken with honey. This was due to the fact that the camel lung is rich in vitamin C which reduces fever and enhances immunity, which in turn eases asthma infections.
So the next time you think of a recipe or viand, try something extraordinary using camel meat such as camsilog (camel, sinangag, itlog), cameleta (camel caldereta) or make wok your own style with camel meat. Surely, it will not only be trendsetting but healthier as well.

Camel Meat as a Substitute for Beef
Young camels, less than three years of age, produce high quality, low-fat meat (Professor Isam T. Kadim et al., 2006).
Health wise, camel meat has less fat and is low in cholesterol compared with other animal meats (Professor Isam T. Kadim et al., 2008).
The cholesterol content of camel meat (50 mg/100 g) is less than beef (59 mg/100 g), sheep (71 mg/100 g), goat (63 mg/100 g), ostrich (52 mg/100 g), and chicken (57 mg/100 g; Professor Isam T. Kadim et al., 2008; Raiymbek, 2013).
Further more a recent study (Ibrahim and Nour, 2010) indicated that camel meat can be added up to 75% in burgers without compromising consumer acceptability. It is therefore clear that camel meat can be used as a substitute for beef due to its reduced fat and cholesterol content.
